Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Safari Adventure

Morning: Arrival & Transfer to Nyerere National Park

  • 6:00 AM – Arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport (Dar es Salaam) or your designated pickup point.

  • 6:30 AM – Transfer to Nyerere National Park (approx. 5–6 hours’ drive) or opt for a short flight to Selous Airstrip.

  • 12:00 PM – Arrive at your lodge/camp within the park. Check-in, rest, and enjoy a welcome lunch.

Afternoon: Game Drive

  • 3:30 PM – Depart for an afternoon game drive.

  • Explore the southern Serengeti-like plains, home to elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras.

  • Keep an eye out for wild dogs, crocodiles, and antelope.

  • Return to your lodge in time for sunset views over the Rufiji River.

Evening: Dinner & Overnight Stay

  • 7:30 PM – Enjoy a delicious dinner at your lodge/camp.

  • After dinner, relax and unwind under the African stars.

Day 2: Boat Safari & Cultural Exploration

Morning: Boat Safari

  • 6:00 AM – Wake up for an early boat safari on the Rufiji River.

  • Cruise past hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds.

  • Enjoy the peaceful and scenic landscape while spotting animals coming down to drink at the river.

  • Return to your lodge for a breakfast.

Late Morning: Walking Safari

  • 10:00 AM – Set off on a walking safari with an armed guide.

  • Learn about the flora and fauna, tracking animals and spotting small wildlife like insects and birds in the dense bush.

Afternoon: Cultural Visit or Fishing Excursion

  • 1:00 PM – Enjoy a lunch at the lodge.

  • 2:00 PM – Choose between the following activities:

    • Cultural Visit: Visit local Masai or Swahili villages to learn about their culture and traditions.

    • Fishing Excursion: Try your hand at fishing in the Rufiji River, where you can catch tiger fish or catfish.

Late Afternoon: Final Game Drive

  • 4:00 PM – Embark on your last game drive to catch any wildlife you may have missed.

  • Keep your camera ready for the beautiful sunset over the park.

Evening: Return to Dar es Salaam

  • 6:00 PM – Return to your lodge for a final dinner.

  • 8:00 PM – Transfer back to Dar es Salaam or the nearest airport for your departure or overnight stay.
